Data Warehouse Applicative Database Administrator
The development DBA will work to support the application development lifecycle and will focus on tasks related to building an effective, usable database environment to support the creation and maintenance of data applications. In addition to traditional performance and production tasks, the selected individual will lend assistance and support by building and maintaining the proper database structures required by data applications, which will include data modeling and normalization to ensure that databases are designed to promote data integrity and best performance.
What you’ll do:
Serve as the primary DBA in support of our Data department
Guide database design for all new product and feature enhancements, understanding of analytical DBs and requirements
Work with the Data Engineering and BI teams to ensure that appropriate and efficient SQL and Python is being coded and tested
Monitor database and ETL performance, and guide implementation of architecture and code changes for improving scalability and maintainability
Guide development teams on the best practices of working with databases, and take an active part in the database design and performance considerations
Devise strategic solutions to resolve and eliminate recurrent problems
Mentor other team members, and take an active part in code reviews.
Minimize database downtime and manage parameters to provide fast query responses
Provide proactive and reactive data management support and training to users
Determine, enforce and document database policies, procedures and standards
Provide automation tools to facilitate database testing and data refresh
What we’re looking for:
Academic degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or equivalent experience
5 years of hands on experience as an Application SQL Server DBA
Experience with cloud DBs such as Snowflake and DBs on AWS and Azure.
Highly proficient with SQL and NoSQL database design and distributed computing
Prior experience with stored procedures, triggers, and user-defined functions (UDFs).
Prior experience guiding development teams on best practices and conventions in an Agile environment
Experience in Performance Tuning and Optimization of big data environments, using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools
Implementing operational automation using scripts
Self-motivated, independent and problem-solving orientation
Good communication and documentation skills
Experience with backups, restores and recovery models
